You lead a strong Wisconsin residency program and likely have first-year residents who are interested in staying in Wisconsin to practice rural family medicine and also have leadership qualities. We invite you to please encourage them to apply for the WAFP-Foundation's David C. Eitrheim, MD Rural Resident Memorial Scholarship.
This prestigous award of $10,000 will be given to a first-year resident in a Wisconsin residency program who demonstrates an interest and commitment to rural family medicine. The purpose of the award is to help offset expenses incurred with rural rotations and to fund attendance at an AAFP Annual Meeting and participate in rural interest group activities.
Applicants will be required to complete an application form and submit a personal statement indicating their interest in rural family medicine and their intent to stay in Wisconsin to practice. The
application will also require a letter of reference from the residency director or faculty member.
Eligibility criteria includes the following:
- Must be in good academic standing in a Wisconsin Family Medicine Rural Training Track or Residency Program
- Must be a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians/Wisconsin Academy of Family Physicians
- Must have a demonstrated commitment to rural family medicine
- Applications due by March 1
- Applications reviewed: March 2-31
- Recipient notified: June 1
