The Wisconsin Academy of Family Physicians is now accepting nominations for its 2026 Awards Program, recognizing outstanding members across three categories: Family Physician of the Year, Family Medicine Educator of the Year, and Lifetime Achievement Award.
Nominations are open through July 1, 2026. Award recipients will be formally honored at the WAFP Annual Business Meeting in March 2027.
The Family Physician of the Year award recognizes a physician who exemplifies compassionate, comprehensive, and continuous care — a true "Family Doctor" in practice and in community. Wisconsin's honoree will also be considered for the AAFP National Family Physician of the Year award.
The Family Medicine Educator of the Year award honors a physician whose excellence as a teacher and mentor has shaped the next generation of family medicine practitioners.
The Lifetime Achievement Award is WAFP's most distinguished honor, reserved for members with at least 25 years in the Wisconsin chapter whose careers have had lasting impact on the specialty, the Academy, and the communities they serve.
All nominees must be WAFP members in good standing. Nominations may be submitted by colleagues, peers, trainees, and — for the Family Physician of the Year — patients.
