Award Requirements: The requirements of the scholarship award are that the resident be in satisfactory academic standing at the time of application, the training be primarily clinical in nature and at least two weeks in duration, and that the additional training is based at least 30 miles from the residency site. The training experience must meet the approval of the residency program director.
The training experience may be in any of the following areas relating to oncology or Dr. Clifford’s areas of special interest including the following:
- Cancer prevention, diagnosis, or treatment
- Complications of cancer related care or surgery
- End-of-Life Care including palliative and hospice medicine experience
- Complementary and alternative medicine
- Pain assessment and therapy
- Nutritional therapy
- Urgent care
- Substance abuse training
- Cultural diversity training
- Wilderness medicine
- Other affiliated specialties as appropriate
Application process: Applications should include a description of the planned educational activity and a statement from the residency program director that the resident is in good standing.
Review and selection process: Applications will be reviewed by the selection committee and awarded based upon the number of applications received, and the description of the experiential training. The selection committee may create and amend criteria from time to time.
