The WAFP-Foundation highlighted the Send a Student to the National Conference fundraiser. Enough money was raised to send two additional students to the conference. We are now halfway to our goal of sending 20 students to National Conference of Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students. Thank you to all who contributed. Your generosity is appreciated. A reception was hosted by the WAFP-Foundation prior to the Annual Meeting, Awards Dinner and Induction of Officers. Reception guests were each given the opportunity to win one of three gift baskets filled with treats from chocolates to wine. Congratulations to this year’s lucky winners: Dr. Cheri Olson, Mrs. Lou-Mae Russo and Mrs. Jennifer Johnson. The WAFP was privileged to be in the company of special guests Dr. Roland Goertz, AAFP Board Chair, Dr. Julie Anderson (Minnesota-AFP), Dr. Deanna Willis (Indiana-AFP), and Dr. Jim Cunnar (Illinois-AFP) at the Annual Meeting, Awards Dinner and Induction of Officers. Thank you to our special guests and all who attended to congratulate our new officers and hear Brad Meyers give his inaugural presidential address. Every year the WAFP is thrilled to honor a physician for their excellence in teaching our future doctors and a physician who provides outstanding service to their patients and community. We are pleased to announce this year's award winners: Family Medicine Educator of the Year, John Brill, MD and Family Physician of the Year, Paul Russo, MD. The Glenn P Clifford scholarship was awarded to Richard Terry, MD. Dr. Terry will be using the scholarship to train in Nairobi, Kenya in March of 2012. The WAFP Business Meeting introduced the association to the Board Members who will lead this year's Academy. |
